Jess has been making up stories ever since she can remember. Though her messy handwriting made it hard for anyone else to read them, she wasn’t deterred and now she gets to make up stories for a living. She loves loud music, a good book on a rainy day, and probably spends too much time watching too many TV shows. Jess lives in regional Victoria, Australia.

How I Found the Author

About two years ago I went on a search for recommended sci-fi romance authors and hit the jackpot with several different ones. Jess Anastasi was one of those authors and at the time the first book in both her series were on sale, so I grabbed them up. I started with the Valiant Knox series which I really enjoyed, but when I read Atrophy I knew this was going to be an auto-buy author for me.

I loved the mix of romance, science fiction, and adventure that I found in Anastasi’s books and her characters were so interesting, vibrant, and real that I wanted to know everything about them. I loved these books so much that I recommended them to my library where I work and they ended up purchasing them for the collection. Now I anxiously wait for more books and I suggest Jess Anastasi to any reader that will stand still long enough.

Why I Love the Author

One of the best things about science fiction romance is the world building and Jess Anastasi does this so well in both her series. From the planets, to the technology, to the politics, she creates a unique and fun world that I love exploring.

On top of that, her characters are a joy to read and I find myself interested, intrigued, and dedicated to their stories. Anastasi also isn’t afraid to make complex characters that sometimes do the wrong thing. They aren’t black or white, good or evil, but instead they’re just trying to survive and make the right decisions in the moment.

With romance, science fiction, and adventure, these books are just plan fun to read while also being incredibly gut-wrenching at times.

  • Amazing world building that leaves you wanting more
  • Fascinating characters that are real, complex, and full of shades of gray
  • Fun adventures in space
  • Gut-wrenching but beautiful romances

Favorite Books by the Author

Jess Anastasi-Atrophy Jess Anastasi-Entropy Jess Anastasi-Cover Fire

Atrophy: This was the book that truly hooked me on Jess Anastasi and it’s also my favorite series by her. I was fascinated by the world she had created and I loved the crew of the Imojenna. While centered on Zahli and Tannin’s romance, there was also a lot going on for the overall crew and I became so invested in their story.

EntropyThe most recent addition to the Atrophy series brought me one of my favorite kickass heroines, Camille, as well as the charming and confident hero Qae. I loved these two together and the treasure hunting, jetting across the galaxy vibe this story gave was so much fun.

Cover FireI loved Sebastian when he first appeared in the Valiant Knox series so I was really excited to get this story. He’s cocky and handsome and the quintessential confident pilot. I had so much fun watching him meet his match in super spy Jenna.
