This is My Genre Tag
I saw this tag on Dani’s Bookshelf and though I really only read one genre, I love to talk about it so I figured why not?!
What’s Your Favorite Genre?
If you know my blog, you know that I’m an avid romance reader and it makes up probably 95% of what I read. I’ve been reading romance for over 15 years now and while I’ve always loved books, I really became obsessed once I discovered this genre.
Who is your favorite author from the genre?
I couldn’t possibly pick just one but there are a few that are auto-buys for me and I tend to love just about everything they write. They include Laura Kaye, Anna Hackett, Nalini Singh, Nora Roberts, Annabeth Albert, Jenn Bennett, and Roan Parrish.
What is it about the genre that keeps pulling you back?
The biggest thing for me is that I love books with a happy ending and that’s guaranteed with the romance genre. I’m also really motivated by characters and finding ones that I love. Even when it comes to TV, I can’t wait watch a show if I don’t like at least one character. The emotions, relationships, and uplifting nature of falling in love keeps me coming back every time.
What’s the book that started your love for the genre?
I went from reading young adult paranormal books to reading adult paranormal romance via the Wings in the Night series by Maggie Shayne. However, my true obsession with the genre didn’t start until shortly after those books when I began reading Nora Roberts.
If you had to recommend at least one book from your favorite genre to a non-reader/someone looking to start reading the genre, what would you choose and why?
This one is hard because it would really depend on what the person was interested. Do they like comedy or something more serious. Do they love sports, or animals, or space travel, or action. There are so many choices!
Why do you read?
I read because I love to escape into other worlds, characters, and stories. I’m a big introvert so reading is also a way for me to be alone for a bit and relax into a good story.
