HE’S PLAYING GAMES
Though Rylann Pierce tried to fight the sparks she felt for billionaire heir Kyle Rhodes the night they met, their sizzling chemistry was undeniable. But after being stood up on their first date, Rylann never expected to see him again. So when she finds herself face to face with Kyle in a courthouse nine years later, she’s stunned. More troubling to the beautiful Assistant U.S. Attorney is that she’s still wildly attracted to him.
BUT SHE’S MAKING THE RULES
Just released from prison, Kyle Rhodes isn’t thrilled to be the star witness in a high-profile criminal case — but when Rylann comes knocking at his door, he finds she may be the one lawyer he can’t say no to. Still as gorgeous and sharp-tongued as ever, she lays down the law: she doesn’t mix business with pleasure. But Kyle won’t give up on something he wants — and what he wants is the one woman he’s never forgotten…
About That Night has long been a favorite of mine and reading it again reminded me of why I love Julie James’s writing so much! We first met Kyle in the previous book, A Lot Like Love, and I couldn’t wait for his story because I already loved him. Kyle was smart, witty, and just the right amount of cocky. He knows he made a mistake, he owned up to it, and now he’s working to fix his life. Kyle’s not interested in a relationship considering what happened with his last girlfriend but Rylann turns all his emotions and plans on their head. I adored watching Kyle fall in love because he’s both conflicted and on board with it. I also really enjoyed seeing Kyle’s twin sister Jordan again because I love their relationship and how they’re always joking with each other.
Rylann was the perfect match for Kyle and I absolutely loved her and want to be her best friend! She’s sarcastic, feisty, and always has a smart comeback. Rylann takes her job very seriously and while she’s attracted to Kyle she’s worried dating him will ruin her reputation as an AUSA. Deviating from her life’s plan is a scary prospect for Rylann but something about Kyle just makes her want to take a chance on doing something “crazy.” The banter between Kyle and Rylann is cute and sexy and everything I want in a book. All their quips and sarcasm was like prolonged flirting and they had such great chemistry together.
About That Night is definitely on my list of top reads and Rylann and Kyle really make this story because they’re so perfect for each other and I love them to pieces as a couple and as individual people.
5 stars – loved it!
