HEA Flashback: Born in Twilight by Maggie Shayne

post-hea flashback2

I’ve been a reader since I was a child and I’ve been a dedicated romance junkie since freshman year of high school; but I only started writing reviews a few years ago. So, this year I’ll be running a series called HEA Flashback where I talk about romance books I read prior to the blog. I’ll be doing a flashback every first Tuesday of the month, so check back to find out what books still hold a special place in my heart.

Book Description

They Said It Couldn’t Happen, but They Were Wrong.

Jameson Bryant found her in an abandoned building, half-starved, her face chalk-white yet strikingly beautiful. He knew what she was, but he couldn’t resist the power of her violet eyes. Even her warning to stay away only served to draw him closer.

But it was too late and had been from the first moment he saw her. With one parting of her lips, the hungry creature of the night took him, body, heart and soul… Nine months later, their tiny dark angel was born…in twilight.

What I Love

Before I discovered the world of adult romance I was reading young adult paranormal books and devouring anything about vampires so it was a natural transition into adult PNR. Maggie Shayne’s Wings in the Night series was the first adult PNR series I read and I absolutely loved them!

Jameson and Angelica don’t meet under the best circumstances and it was really interesting to watch their relationship develop as they go after a common enemy. What made this one unique is that Angelica has no idea how to be a vampire because she’s turned against her will and then promptly kidnapped and experimented on (including impregnation) by an evil government group. Jameson is human but has grown up around vampires since he was a child, but now he’s been turned as well and he has to teach Angelica about her new powers and limitations.

Born in Twilight is full of passionate characters, emotional revelations, and even some adventure as our couple searches for their missing baby.
