She was supposed to be a means to an end…
Redemption Harbor Consulting’s greatest enemy, Alexei Kuznetsov, is in their sights. For RHC co-founder Leighton, toppling the treacherous criminal’s empire is one more small step toward making up for his own past. To destroy Kuznetsov, he’ll go through the Russian’s niece, a woman Leighton suspects may also be guilty of dirty deeds. A woman he doesn’t count on wanting…who boils his blood and makes Leighton want things he doesn’t deserve with someone he can’t have.
Now she’s everything to him…
Despite other prospects, family loyalty has Lucy Carreras running one of her uncle’s prosperous hotels. But the longer she observes its operations, the more she believes the elegant establishment is host to some shady exploits. When her suspicions are confirmed by Leighton—a dangerous man straight out of her fantasies—Lucy’s entire world explodes when she learns just how evil her uncle’s sins are. Now she can’t stand by and let it continue. She and Leighton will take Alexei down together…if they can survive the deadly storm hurtling toward them.
The Redemption Harbor Consulting team finally have a way to take down their enemy Alexei Kuznetsov and all Leighton needs to do is get close to the man’s daughter, Lucy Carreras. Covert Games jumps right into the action with Leighton going undercover at Lucy’s hotel and casino to find and stop a human trafficking ring. He wants to believe that Lucy has nothing to do with her father’s life of crime but he can’t let his emotions get in the way of the mission.
Since returning home from the military, Leighton has kept things close to the chest and the team is worried about his emotional well being. I really liked Leighton even though he’s been a bit of a mystery throughout the series so far. Like the rest of the RHC men, he’s protective, smart, and dedicated to finding justice for those who need it. I also liked how he sees Lucy for who she really is and he never doubts her.
Lucy is also a great character and while she’s spent most of her adulthood dedicated to her work, she’s can’t resist Leighton. I enjoyed how sweet and compassionate Lucy is though she’s a bit naive in regards to her family. The chemistry between Lucy and Leighton is obvious from the moment they meet and I liked that it was both sexy and sweet. After a few mid rated books, I was happy to see Covert Games return to what I loved about the beginning of the series.

4 stars – it was enjoyable
