The Greatest Risk by Scarlett Cole
Series: Second Circle Tattoos #4.5
Published: December 16, 2018 by Scarlett Cole
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Holly is crushed when a public vote leaves her runner-up on the tattooing reality TV show, Inked. The prize, her own tattoo studio, was the only way to get her career, and reputation, back on track. But without it, she’s stuck with a freezing apartment and no prospects. Until Dred Zander, lead singer of rock band, Preload, offers her a way out.
Ryan will do anything to head up the New York office of his talent agency, even take on a band whose career is on the line. Turn Preload around, and the job is as good as his. It’s an easy win for a man who likes to get things done… alone. There’s only one problem, a sexy as hell tattoo artist with a knack for social media. When Preload offer Holly a temporary position helping with their social media campaign, it’s a distraction Ryan doesn’t expect. But then he doesn’t expect to lose his heart either.
The Greatest Risk was a really cute follow up novella that let me revisit some of my favorites characters from the Second Circle Tattoos series. Unlike the previous books, the conflict is all internal as these two opposites try to work together. Ryan is used to be in control and he’s practically married to his job with no time for a serious relationship. He’s doesn’t want to work with Holly at first but he quickly learns that she’s smart and talented and actually has some great ideas.
Holly can’t turn down the offer from Preload’s lead singer to work with Ryan even though this isn’t the type of work she wants to do in the long run. With a bohemian sense of style and an introverted personality, Holly was a great heroine. Her confidence has taken a beating since her ex-business partner ran off with all her money but she’s dedicated to earning it all back.
I enjoyed Holly and Ryan together and once they started to look past the surface they had amazing chemistry!
4 stars – it was enjoyable
