Mastering Her Senses by Laura Kaye
Blasphemy #2
Contemporary Romance

Cassia Locke has struggled with a fear of the dark ever since she was trapped for three days in a cave-in. Returning to the exclusive BDSM club, Blasphemy, Cassia hopes to conquer her fear but a panic attack gets the better of her. When bartender and Master, Quinton Ross, comes to Cassia’s rescue he recognizes her from years before. Quinton’s kink for sensory deprivation and playing with the mind is the perfect solution to help Cassia regain control of her life. But what starts out as no-strings quickly turns to more as they each find a partner who truly understands the other.

I really enjoyed Mastering Her Senses, even more than the first! Cassia is such a strong woman who’s been brought down by a phobia and she’s desperate to overcome it. A fear of darkness has taken over all parts of Cassia’s life but with Quinton, she finds a safe place to explore. The best part of Cassia is her humor and how she handles everything that comes her way with a smile or a joke. This makes her a perfect match for Quinton who’s charming, sexy, and a bit of a goofball. They don’t take themselves too seriously and they both have a zest for living.

As Cassia begins to fight back against her fears she finds chemistry like she’s never experienced with Quinton. Their scenes are off the charts and so incredibly HOT! Quinton knows how to seduce a woman’s mind, body, and soul and he had me reaching for the fan with some of their play. I would have loved a deeper look into how Quinton’s kink developed because I found it truly fascinating. Even outside the bedroom, Cassia and Quinton enjoy life and have the best time together. Of course, there are some ups and downs as Cassia struggles but Quinton is always there to help and support her and their trust in each other was deep and inspiring. They fall in love quickly but I enjoyed every second of it!

As an added bonus, Cassia is actually the sister of Jagger from the Raven Riders series. It was great to get a little crossover and see some of the other Ravens for a brief bit.

Book Details

Quinton Ross has always been a thrill-seeker—so it’s no surprise that he’s drawn to extremes in the bedroom and at his play club, Blasphemy, where he creates sense-depriving scenarios that blow submissives’ minds. Now if he could just find one who needs the rush as much as him…

Cassia Locke hasn’t played at Blasphemy since a caving accident left her with a paralyzing fear of the dark. Ready to fight, she knows just who to ask for help—the hard-bodied, funny-as-hell Dom she’d always crushed on—and once stood up.

Quinton is shocked and a little leery to see Cassia, but he can’t pass up the chance to dominate the alluring little sub this time. Introducing her to sensory deprivation becomes his new favorite obsession, and watching her fight fear is its own thrill. But when doubt threatens to send her running again, Quinton must find a way to master her senses—and her heart.

  1. Fab review, Alex! This one sounds sexy AND fun. I love when there’s some humor in books. Most, if not all, of my favorite books have at least one main character with a great sense of humor. I enjoy these characters’ witty comebacks or conversations. I’m adding this book to my TBR. I’m trying to remember Jagger…? My memory is bad.

By the way, please excuse my typos in all my comments (past, present and future). It’s so embarrassing when I see these in my posts or reviews.
