…but neither does Ivan.

My Review

In Under His Protection, Katie Reus creates a truly despicable villain that is stalking and harassing our heroine, Jules. This was more psychological thriller rather than action as Jules and Ivan try to figure out who’s after her but I still really enjoyed it. Jules was a wonderful heroine that I liked from the beginning. She’s put so much of herself into her business that she’s neglected her own happiness outside of work but her dedication is admirable. She’s an excellent friend, a caring woman, and the type of person that everyone likes. I also loved her confidence and her comfort in her own skin; though she’s been celibate for a while, Jules is very sex-positive and she’s not ashamed of who she is.

Big and protective, Ivan was the epitome of the Alpha Hero. When he first meets Jules he’s immediately attracted but his attempt to keep his distance makes him look standoffish but when Jules realizes that Ivan wants her, everything changes. Ivan was incredibly protective of Jules and he jumps in right away when he finds out about the texts she’s been getting. He’s a bit aggressive about helping her at first, but the reader knows it’s from his heart. Ivan is so used to giving orders and being obeyed but he quickly learns that Jules is independent and fiery and won’t be bossed around.

Ivan and Jules set the pages on fire and I appreciated that they don’t immediately jump into bed all the way. Ivan isn’t used to relationships and he doesn’t want to mess up with Jules so he wants to take things slowly. He’s also concerned about taking advantage when Jules is so vulnerable so he spends a lot of time worshiping Jules and putting her first. Clearly Ivan knows his way around the bedroom *fans face*. This series really keeps up the action and romance and it’s great to see previous couples since Red Stone Security is really one big, supportive family.

**Reader Safety: Heroine is being stalked and harassed and is receiving disturbing text messages

4 stars – it was enjoyable
