Jonah Beckett has been in love with his older brother’s best friend, George “Laurie” DeWitt, since he was thirteen-years-old. When his boyfriend, Dirk, breaks up with him for refusing to put out, Jonah uses his heartbreak over the situation as an excuse to ask Laurie to teach him all about sex before he starts college in the fall. Problem is, he made Dirk up, and Jonah has no idea what will happen when Laurie finally finds out the truth.

My Review

I really enjoyed this one and wish it could have been longer because I loved both these guys. For such a short novella, this was very well developed and felt much longer to read than it actually was.

“He wasn’t sure exactly when it’d happened, but there’d been a moment the day before when Laurie looked at Jonah and realized he wasn’t just some friend with benefits anymore, if he ever had been in the first place.”

Jonah might be inexperienced but he knows what he wants and he’s not afraid to go after it. He’s also surprisingly protective of Laurie and I truly enjoyed the confrontation between Jonah and Travis — Travis so had that coming. Laurie was so sweet and gentle with Jonah and he really wanted to make sure Jonah’s first time was something he could cherish. Jonah was his friend first and he wanted to do right by him but also move into this new phase of their relationship. They were really great together.

I also really liked Marcus and he was a great friend to Laurie. I was surprised with how the best friend’s sibling issue worked out and I actually liked it more than the usual angry confrontation that occurs in these types of books. Marcus recognized Laurie’s worth and how he would be the perfect guy for Jonah.

5 stars – loved it!
