First Surrender by Katie Reus
The Serafina: Sin City #1
Sierra’s crush on Hayden hasn’t gone away but she knows she’s just a friend to him. After all, she’s never been the type of woman that a guy goes crazy over. Hayden was unbearable to be around when he retired from the military but he couldn’t push Sierra away; she stuck by him no matter what. Now he has to get over himself and find a way to ask Sierra out.
“Hayden was never going to be interested in her romantically but that didn’t stop her from wanting him more and more every day.”
Katie Reus really knows how to pack a lot of story in a short amount of space. With only 70 pages, I never felt like things were missing or left out. Sierra is an incredibly sweet character. You know she’s the type of person that everyone likes because she’s just so genuine. I loved Sierra but she was a classic Mary Sue character who’s just perfect and everyone looks out for her or wants her. Just a small thing, but some flaw would have rounded out her character. Hayden was pretty possessive but also so careful when it came to taking care of Sierra. He was a perfect blend of rough and tumble mixed with kindhearted.

He’s dangerous, sexy, and everything she wants…Sierra hit it off with Hayden from the moment they met. The dangerously sexy, tattooed ex-SEAL is one of the best friends she’s ever had—and the main star in her wildest fantasies. But he doesn’t see her that way. And she’d die of embarrassment if he found out she was still a virgin.
And he’s about to make his claim…Hayden’s struggled to keep his attraction to the beautiful, dark haired casino chef a secret. He’s not good enough for her. But when an attacker targets Sierra, Hayden’s protective instincts go into overdrive. With the attraction between them burning out of control, he’ll do whatever it takes to protect her and convince her they’re meant to be together.
