My Review

Wanted & Wired by Vivien Jackson
Tether #1
Science Fiction Romance

I really really wanted to like this book because I love sci-fi romance and wish there were more of it. Unfortunately, I just couldn’t get into this one. It started with the writing which was very confusing; Vivien Jackson throws out made-up words and terms and references things and names in this futuristic world but she barely ever explains what they mean. Some you can infer from context but overall I was left feeling very confused over what was going on.

Then came the characters, which I just couldn’t get into. Mari was beyond messed up and I only saw what got revealed in the first quarter of the book. I don’t understand how someone who is so jittery, anxious, and neurotic could possibly be a gun-for-hire. She was so all over the place that she practically gave me whiplash with her thoughts and emotions. Heron actually had potential and I was intrigued by the idea of “whole-organics” (unmodified humans) and Cyborgs (tech-modified humans), however, even my interest in following that storyline couldn’t compete with how confusing and uninteresting I found everything else.
