Genre: Contemporary Romance
When Dr. Christie Harmon up and moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming to escape a vicious scandal, she expected a quiet, lonely Christmas on-call as a pediatrician at the local hospital. But when she’s treating a little boy with a bump on the head, she doesn’t expect his dad to be so distractingly handsome…or single.
In the wake of his ex-wife’s abandonment five years ago, Luke Grayson has been focused on raising his son Ethan. The scars from the split run deep, and Luke hasn’t trusted another woman to come into their lives. But there’s something about the sweet—and sexy—Christie that has him wondering if something’s been missing.
Can new love help lonely hearts find a way? After all, Christmas is a time for magic.
This was a sweet and enjoyable holiday romance and I can’t wait to read about more of the Grayson family. Though this only takes place over a month, I still feel that Tara Wyatt does a good job of showing us how compatible Luke and Christie are and how much they care about each other.
Luke was a wonderful father and I loved the moments between him and Ethan. Talk about melty moments! Christie was also really likable; she is naturally drawn to Luke and is great around Ethan. She initially turns down Luke’s dinner invitation in an attempt to be cautious but soon realizes that she might be passing up the best thing to ever happen to her. Once she give Luke a chance she realizes how strong of a connection they have.
I also really appreciate that Luke did not get judgmental over Christie’s past. They do have a fight over it because Christie is concerned over how the community will view her and then him by association, but Luke is very supportive and understands that Christie did nothing wrong. After everything that happened with Christie and her determination not to be impulsive, she jumped at being with Luke pretty fast. But this did not annoy me, it just stood out. Also, I’m not sure a 7-8 year old knows what a wingman is but I don’t have kids, so maybe I’m wrong?
3 stars – it was good
