Genre: Paranormal Romance
Wild and passionate by nature, Lyra Black is not just any werewolf. She’s the future leader of the powerful pack of the Thorn – if she can stay alive long enough to inherit the title.
One of the Cait Sith bloodline of vampire cat-shifters, Jaden Harrison has no interest in the wars plaguing the world of night. But when he rescues Lyra from a violent attack, they’re both captured by an insatiable desire that threatens to overwhelm them and bind them together for eternity… just as ancient enemies prepare to strike. And when they do, the Thorn and the Cait Sith – and Lyra and Jaden’s love – may never recover from the deadly blow.
Jaden has been in hiding every since leaving the Ptolemy but now he belongs with the other Cait Sith under the protection of the newly risen Lilim. When he comes across a werewolf being attacked by her own he’s immediately intrigued by her. When she loses her necklace in the fight, Jaden uses it as the opportunity to track Lyra down and see her again. Lyra is the Alpha’s daughter and all she wants is to bring her pack into this century, starting by treating females as more than just mates. She intends to compete in the Proving for the next Alpha no matter how much her father wants her to back out. When Jaden shows up and demonstrates his fighting abilities, Lyra’s father convinces him to train Lyra to fight so that she won’t be killed during the Proving. But their growing attraction won’t be welcomed by her packmates.
This was a great addition to the series and a great progression to the overall storyline involving the Ptolemy and the Lilim. I absolutely loved Jaden! He was a great hero and you can’t help but love him; he’s easy going and laid back but he can take care of business when needed. He’s attracted to Lyra and instead of just ignoring it, he goes for it. Jaden doesn’t know much about werewolf packs but he’s willing to learn and has nothing against Lyra’s packmates. His support of Lyra is beautiful to read; he truly sees her strength and doesn’t want to hold her back.
Lyra was a very tough woman and so determined to prove her worth that she got a bit bull-headed. Jaden was so sweet and I just wanted him to be happy and Lyra definitely made him work for it.

4 stars – it was enjoyable
